I learned something the other day....

When kids are too quiet you should check on them......the same rule should apply with a dog.

I thought my dog was really enjoying the warm weather the other day because she was too quiet outside. This is what she was doing. This hole goes about 1/2 under the patio.

Uncle's 90 th Party

silly things kids say

Today driving to dance class my daughter and I had a conversation....ok not really a conversation. More like she talked and I got to say a few words. I love listening to her talk and talk. She will say the funniest things. This is how the conversation went today...I promise she isn't always thinking of herself and the way she looks, but that is what it sounded like today.

Chlorine: I just decided today that I am going to be a famous singer. I am going to have lots of money. I will be a millionaire. If you are a millionaire you can go shopping. When you are shopping you can spend $1000 dollars and still be a millionaire. I am going to have a limo that is so long with won't be able to turn corners. If I need to turn a corner I will have to get out and get into another limo. I will have lots of limos...a large one, med. one and a small one. I am going to ship you a maid so you don't have to clean the house because I will be living in Hollywood and you will be living here.

Mom: can I live somewhere warmer because I like when it is warm.

Chlorine: yes, I will ship you to a warmer place. I will also have lots of sunglasses. I might be a dancer instead. I want to be a lifeguard like you. That would be fun. Do you get to swim when you are a lifeguard? I don't want to do it if I don't get to swim. I will also be a designer and also a dentist. I want to be a teacher too. I will design lots of beautiful dresses. I will have someone to fix my food. You can also have someone cook for you. I will have to have bodyguards at every door because everyone will want to talk to me. My friend is going to be a singer with me so we will be sharing a big house. She needs a bigger house because she has lots of brothers. They can't have lots of brothers living in a small house. They take up a lot of room and she doesn't get any room.

Tomorrow is PJ day. I need to pick out some PJ tomorrow. I liked wearing a hat today. I kept stealing Andrew's hat. It is fun to take his hat. What do I dress up for on Thursday and Friday?

Mom: we can look when we get home

A few second pause

Chlorine: they make brownies but why doesn't anyone make a pinky or bluey. Why do they call it brownies?

Mom: I don't know, we can look it up.

Chlorine: I want to see what I look like when I am adult. I told my friends that if you were cute as a kid then you will be ugly as an adult. They freaked out.

Mom: you know that isn't true...you are cute now and will be a beautiful adult.

Chlorine: I know, but it was fun to make my friends freak out. I wonder if I am going to have lots of kids and who I will marry. I hope it is Andrew. I will be so happy and would jump up and down.

Mom: There are lots of boys in this world. Remember mom and dad grew up in different places and met as adults.

Chlorine: I know, I wonder if there is a boy in Montana that likes me or maybe in Idaho. I know a boy that likes me in Idaho, but I don't like him. Well I like him as a friend.

If I keep eating chocolate bars I will be fat and then I will call myself fatsina. Then i will have to eat fruit. I think I will keep eating chocolate bars until I am perfect and then eat fruit.

That building has beautiful dresses in the window. Someday I want to try on all those dresses. Someday can you take me to a spa? It would be fun when dad and Luke are gone on a boy thing then we could go to a spa. Maybe we could do another girly thing.

Mom you were really cute as a kid. I wonder what I would look like if I had brown hair. When I grow up I am going to have grey hair.

swimming in the ATL

Colin is always hard to buy gifts for, so I was impressed with myself when I thought of a cool gift for the big 3-0 birthday. If you have a diving certification, you can swim in one of the tanks at the Geogia Aquarium. They have 4 whale sharks, 2 large manta rays, other small sharks and tons of fish. I believe it's the largest tank in the world (?) - http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/exploreTheAquarium/oceanVoyager.aspx. So, the day after Thanksgiving, we headed downtown, walked around Centinnial Park, and Colin went diving!

Cruise 2009

We took the kids on a cruise for Fall break. It was so much fun and the kids enjoyed everything. They picked out their own clothes for the formal dinner. They looked so cute.
We went to Catalina Island, Ensenada Mexico and then spent a day in San Diego.

Engaged

David got engaged on his recent trip to the Dominican Republic. Her name is Johanni Magdalena Made Saldivar. Now we just have to wait for David to get her into the country for a wedding. We are hoping for next Spring.

Fall

Hi

Rachael is teaching me how to add a letter to the blog. I wanted to show you some of our creations for the fall in Malad. We only had one pumpkin that would grow so Dan put it up in our bush. It kept getting bigger and bigger.
We had a scarcrow festival here in town and Dan created a scacrow. It was my idea and Dan took it from there.

San Fran

Colin and I had a great time in San Fran with some of my friends. He finished his first marathon in 4:14 minutes.....pretty impressive considering he only ran 13 miles at the most during training!

And this past Friday somebody broke into my car :( I thought they had stolen my GPS, but all they took was a dollar in change and Mark's iPod. I was up at 5am leaving for bootcamp when I saw it, so that made me the most nervous that I was out in the dark. But all is well, unfortunatley that is what happens when you live in town!

Locks of Love

Alice chose to donate her hair to Lock of Love. She has been growing her hair out for a while now. She was pretty excited to finally be able to have her hair long enough.

Doesn't she look so cute?

Montana 2009

4 tickets to the Gates of the Mountains... $36. Pedal boats....$6. Seeing my kids so excited about our trip to Montana.....priceless.

Mom (grandma the great), Luke, Chlorine and I took a road trip to Montana. The kids were so excited about everything they saw. They wanted to see everything "where mom was a little kid."

We played at parks, swam in the pools and lakes, went hiking and mainly just drove around looking at everything.
Thanks to my brother and his family, we had the best pork chops and salad in the world!!! Fresh lettuce and broccoli from the garden. Yummmy!!

Chlorine asked, "if they had technology when I was a kid." She is such a hoot.
We went up to hear Alice sing with the choir, that is touring through Montana to Canada. They did such a great job. I was very proud of her and I wish I could see all of the concerts they will be performing. However, I am glad I don't have to travel on the 4 buses.

Here is a picture of the 4 buses that is taking 180 youth to Canada and back.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

A few weeks ago I visited Montreal for the weekend, with a little "jaunt" to Quebec for the day. They were both beautiful cities. Here are some of my favorite pictures: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=26701&id=1134249227&l=cd501ac19f

Things that my kids say that make me laugh...

First I wanted to let you know who each of my kids are with their internent names. They choose their own names.

This is Alice: She is the one in the red jacket and blue pants. :)

This is Luke:

This is Chlorine: I asked her why she choose that name and she said that it is a beautiful girls name if you don't think about the stuff in the pool.

I have been keeping notes on little things the kids say that I find funny. Here are a few:

Alice: I only have to make a poster for homework. It’s not due for a week so I have time. It’s only a poster.
The details of the poster:
· One page report on the Great Depression and World War II in Utah.
· A timeline including important events and/or people
· Artifacts from that time period
· Pictures from the same time period
· Map showing everything (mines, mountain, cities…..everything) Also all natural resources during that time period.
· Prepare a 3 min oral report on what you have learned.
“IT’S JUST A POSTER!!!!!!”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luke: “Mom, I have made a commitment to myself.” “I am going to watch just a little bit of TV on the weekends and on the weekdays I am going to………watch a little bit of TV.”
Mom: so what changed?
Luke: nothing but now I have made a commitment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chlorine: Alice and her friends were talking and giggling about boys. Chlorine leans over to me and says, “they grow up so fast, don’t they?”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chlorine: I had a bad dream
Mom: Really what was it about.
Chlorine: Me and Luke took a trip to the moon. We missed the balloon that was suppose to pick us up. We didn’t have enough air in our tubes. It was scary.
Mom: I am sorry, it is a good thing you don’t have any trips to the moon anytime soon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mom: Son, if you could pick anywhere in the world to serve your mission where would you pick.
After some time to think about it…….
Luke: I want to serve in Kansas.
Mom: Kansas, why there?
Luke: because they have cows.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chlorine signing in the bathroom, “I am free, free falling.”
Chlorine - “my favorite veggie is the white broccoli.”
Chlorine – “Mom, if you wore those clothes on What Not to Wear, they would take them away.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I needed to take the scouts on a field trip. The scouts were in the back talking…..so I just listened. (ok so this wasn't any of my kids, but still made me laugh)
Webelos (speaking with intensity): In Japan they use just chop sticks and a spoon to eat. They eat sticky rice and if we stop shipping them sticky rice they would starve because they only can eat with chop sticks.
ME: I am laughing a little bit to myself.
Webelos: (even more intense) All the rice fields are here in the US and we want to stop sending them sticky rice but we can’t because they will starve!
ME: I had to butt in at this point, “So you don’t think they have rice fields in Japan.”
Webelos: No they only have them here in the US.
ME: So you don’t think they have rice fields in Korea? Or even China?
Webelos: No
ME: “ Well they do have rice fields in these places, I’ve seen them.”
Webelos: Silence.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chlorine – “mom, when I was 3 I was sssooooo cute and then I turned 4 and now I look like this."
Mom – And you are still sssooooo cute.
Chlorine – “Yeah, I am, but I liked my chubby cheeks when I was a little girl."
